    Computer Issues

I have never been a fan of overclocking my PC's. It seems I always create issues when doing so. Well ARMA III has made me give it a go again to see if I could see a few more frames in game. I used AI Suite for my CPU and Precision X for my video card. Well I think I pushed one or the other two far and now I am having issues with my PC. I have everything set back to default.

I seem to lock up regularly. Screen frozen and the only thing that works is my courser. Screen goes black and an alert pops up saying that my video driver no is not responding. Sometimes my courser become a fat looking hamburger helper hand looking thing. When I type this post I type as many as 5 or 6 words before they finally appear on the screen. I am pretty sure it is one or both of my video cards that is the issue or I guess could be the driver. I have the latest drivers installed.

Rolled back to the old drivers. Seems to be resolved for now. I still think I damaged one if not both of my cards.

Whats the max 2XGPU I can run off of a 850w power supply?

    COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.92 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Newegg.com

Where is the sweet spot for 2XGPU for the money right now going from 570's? Finance manger not too keen on new GPU's so I got to fly under the radar.

If you're running two 570's right now, your system should EASILY be able to handle dual 670's or 770's. The 570 had a TDP (Total Drawn Power) of 219 Watts. The 670 draws 170 Watts. The 770 draws 230 Watts. A pair of 770s would only be an increase of 22 watts over the 570s you;re running now.

Don't go with any ATI/AMD solution for dual cards. There are driver issues that cause your frame rate to appear better than it actually is.

Not being a CPU guy at all, I wonder if my I7 with dual 570's would be able to tackle BF4 when it comes out.

I would imagine that you'll notice a drop in frame rate from BF3 -> BF4 if you keep the settings the same. Updated engine, more eye candy... fewer frames.

    Re: Computer Issues

Try one card at a time to see if it is one of the cards? Try them both in each slot to rule out a bad slot on your mobo (which I doubt is the problem, but not a bad idea if you are re-arranging anyway).

It sounds like it is either bad drivers, or a bad card. If they weren't getting enough power, you would most likely have some artifacting or other weirdness while playing ArmA. Just typing things out in Windows wouldn't/ shouldn't cause your cards to draw much electricties.

I thought about wiping the drive and installing fresh but when I try that I get 0xc0000185. Damn thing wont boot to the DVD. My DVD drive works normal otherwise.

I played ARMA III a few minutes ago for about 20 min with no issue.

IT is sporadic now. Screen turns black with weird icons and then goes back to normal.

Could it be a Windows thing? You all updated and such?

Seems to me, if it were a power supply problem, things would go crazy when you were drawing the most power (while playing).

I would probably start with one card, and see what happens. If things are better, try that card in the slot where the other card usually sits.....just to rule out the mobo. Then try the second card on its own.
