    NVIDIA Shield

    Got it. Love it.

The controller layout is awesome. The build quality is top notch. The Android OS games are SO much better than using the touch screen. The PC Game streaming works wonderfully. As soon as I connected over my Wireless N connection, I linked the Shield to my gaming PC, scanned the system for all Shield optimized games. It immediately found the following games I currently have installed on my gaming PC:

    Batman: Arkham City
    Bioshock Infinite
    Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
    Crysis 3
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    Dirt: Showdown
    Dishonored
    DmC: Devil May Cry
    Skyrim
    Half Life 2
    Just Cause 2
    Left 4 Dead 2
    Metro 2033
    Metro Last Light
    Sleeping Dogs

It also has a Steam icon that opens Steam in big picture mode and allows you to access your entire Steam catalog of games. I played some Portal 2, Quantum Conundrum, Test Drive Unlimited 2, and some Dead Space (I own all 3, but never played a single one). As for the Android games. It comes with a couple, including the new Sonic the Hedgehog game. I purchased Max Payne and GTA Vice City, both which are pretty impressive for being games ported to the mobile device.

It is pretty awesome device, but had a high cost of entry. While it is the most powerful Android OS devices out there (Tegra 4), you really are paying a lot ($299) for a device with such a small screen and no included memory card. For me, it came down to keeping the PS Vita, or selling it and paying the difference for the Shield. Seeing how the game selection for the PS Vita is terrible, the choice was pretty easy. After handling the Shield at Quakecon, I was pretty much set... just had to sell the Vita.

Anyways, for those that are considering getting one, but are on the fence, just make sure 2 things. 1) You have a wireless N router, preferably a dual band. 2) Make sure you have a centralized location for the router if you want the PC game streaming to work in all rooms. If you are concerned about the build quality, don't be. NVIDIA did a great job on the device. It feels incredibly solid, but is a bit heavy. Slightly heavier than the PS Vita, but as for travel weight, the hard shell Vita case I owned made it slightly heavier, and not too much smaller when stowed in my bag.

Maybe I will post some pics when I get a chance, but I might be busy gaming!
