09-21-13, 09:51 AM #1BIOS clock not functioning
There's apparently no end to the issues I'm having with my computer...
I noticed last night that the time wasn't quite correct, but I ignored it because I had plenty of other ways to tell the time. But when I cold booted this morning (I keep my rig off at night to conserve electricity) the time was the exact same as when I turned it off last night.
I've been doing some reading around and some people suggest that the CMOS battery is weak. I replaced it with a "new" one (read borrowed), and it still will not keep time while the computer is powered off. I have also updated my BIOS, which it was in desperate need of, but that didn't solve the problem.
When I go into the BIOS itself, there's a real time clock in the BIOS, but it doesn't run at all. There aren't any options in the BIOS to turn on or off the real time clock, so I'm wondering if I have a faulty board? It's still under warranty so I suppose I could get it replaced (I could try bringing it to Microcenter and see if they'll honor it for me and get me a new mobo straight away).
Before I do anything hasty though, I want to see what you guys have to say.

A workaround might be to just update the time in Windows via internet time when you log on, but that actually won't solve the problem. Warranty it! If you are really impatient, you can buy spare cmos batteries off of Amazon.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Saved the most obvious answer for last. Cleared the CMOS to reset the RTC, and it's working fine again. Not sure how the problem started in the first place...
