    Open Office is awesome
    At my last job, I had the only linux workstation on a windows network and Open Office never had any problems with Microsoft file formats like Excel and Word.

    Just make sure you set it to save to M$ file formats by default if you ever plan on sharing your docs with anyone else.

    The only problem is schol ive used it but when i have to email it to my tecahers they cant print it out.

    You can default it to save as MS formats as Gumby mentioned above... You can also export and save it as a PDF.
