The new Tapatalk is some shady BS

So Tapatalk has a new update out. It "upgrades" your pro version to the free version and if you want your functionality back, you have to pay for it again. Pretty crooked IMHO.

Which version of Tapatalk are you talking about? Version 2 was end of lifed. Users of Tapatalk HD (version 3) were updated to version 4 for free. My Tapatalk 4 is still a fully paid version.

Is it shitty they just removed your paid version of an old product and replaced it with a free version? Maybe. However, you don't just get free OS updates (Win XP to WIn 8) or free updates to productivity software (Office 2003 to Office 2010, so why should mobile apps be any different?

Yeah I hate the ideology (paying for a version only gives you until the next major release) but it's a good way to give devs incentive for keeping active on the program. Could be worse, could be like bf* where we only see updates every 6 months and add-ons cost more money... Oh you want smilies with your posts or want to be on forums with others who uses smiles, well that's $5, so is quoting replies or sending pm's.

I do really think it's a shity ideology but at least they are active and developing.

Sigh, subjugated and tamed we are.

I'm on Tapatalk 4 already... but...

If you bought Office 2010, Microsoft doesn't sneak into your computer and nuke it and install the free trial for Office 2013 either. I would still be able to use Office 2010 5 years from now if I wanted to.

Which is why they're pushing their Office 360 crap, so if you don't pay for it... you're fucked.

I was just getting ready to say "hold it... yes they do." If you get Office 365 using Office 2013 right now, when Office 2014 is released they nuke 2013 and force you to use 2014.

Sigh... Fuckin software as a service. Hate it hate it hate it.

Actually they sneaked their beta in for the cloud app crap with office 2010... I (amongst a great deal many of other people) was unknowingly given a special 'blind beta' version of office 2010 that ran on micdicks cloud. I didn't notice this, until later down the road when micprick decided to stop supporting their blind beta and shut down the beta cloud, suddenly none of my office 2010 apps worked. After lots of troubleshooting I googled around and lo and behold am in the same boat as many other users who are then forced to call up miccunts support line, wait for hours to get another office 2010 key to download the 'offline' office 2010 version (not to mention all the time spent troubleshooting, uninstalling the cloud version, installing the offline version, then reapplying all my settings).

So yeah, they do the same bullshit.
