Nvidia G-sync for monitors
NVIDIA Newsroom - Releases - NVIDIA Introduces G-SYNC Technology for Gaming Monitors; Tears, Stutters, Lag Become Artifacts of the Past
Looks promising if they live up to their word, which let's face it, nvidia does.

Seems like a waste of money.

Um... no. If you have ever experienced bad screen tearing that forces shitty vsync when you have the power for higher FPS, then this is pretty awesome. Bioshock Infinite had the worst screen tearing EVER.
This look promising, but I wonder what monitors this will be used on.

The more I read into this, the more I am excited. I hope some good quality ISP or similar high res panels have this. I would upgrade in a heartbeat.

Re: Nvidia G-sync for monitors
Looks pretty cool. Hopefully it delivers.
I don't think I would be an early adopter, though. I'd have to see that it works, and what kind of longevity/problems they have, as well as the panel quality.
After seeing Heavy's monitor at QC, I too want a high res panel. Sooo purdy. I'm not sure I would be willing to trade image quality for extra smoothness.

This has nothing to do with the panel quality/type itself. In fact it could be retrofitted into most modern panels. It's all about the electronics that drive the panel itself. nVidia is demoing the technology now using an existing ASUS monitor with a replaced controller board in the monitor.
Read this article, it tells you why things are the way they are now.
