Look into buying the Moto G. It's the 'budget' version of the Moto X. We bought these for my kids for Christmas. $200 off contract and works on any GSM network in the US (Which T-Mo qualifies). The one knock is it's 3G only (no 4G LTE) but it performs very well for the price.

I've used iPhone and Android, now I use Windows Phone. My entire family is switching to Windows Phones, my wife's side and mine. All phones have their quirks, but every single person I've spoken to with a Windows Phone, says that this is the best experience yet. If you haven't tried a Windows Phone, you're missing out.

I have a Galaxy S4. I used to have the S3 ... it looked nice and worked great when it wasn't crashing or locking up (I think it was the S3). Anyway, I've had the S4 since September and it has been like a rock ... Nice phone, no problems.
I haven't tried the Apple phone, but most of the folks I know that have used an iPhone will always buy any Apple product until they die or they drop the iPhone as soon as possible.
I have not tried a windows phone yet ... Given that this one (S4) is great, I don't expect I'll try one for a long time.

Re: smart phone shopping
What keeps me from switching from an iPhone is the money spent on iPhone apps. If just have to buy them all again

Which is the most common reason for not switching.
You should check out the Google Play or Windows Apps+Games, to see if there are any free apps that may replace what you have already. Who knows, you may not have to buy any.

Best of all worlds:
Windows PC
5th Gen Ipod (basically an iphone without the phone part)
Android Phone
iOs apps, Android Apps, and W8 with Classic Shell.
The only things I really need synced are done with gmail and dropbox. I can play tunes while talking on the phone and trolling the forums.

The HTC One has a touch screen. The One is the best piece of small electronics I have ever owned. I may not upgrade when my contract is up, as I have yet to see anything I would want to upgrade to. It's a really solidly built little machine, and I have been nothing but happy with mine.
