11-23-13, 07:39 AM #1Three new (well two new and one serious upgrade) builds
It's finally build time! Just ordered this fun stuff, thought I would share
For me
8 GB of RAM (I already have one set, I will use this to make 16GB)
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87
Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150
CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler
MSI R9 290 4GD5 (V803) Radeon R9 290 4GB
ARCTIC Accelero Hybrid Extreme VGA Cooler
All going into my existing Corsair 600T case and using my existing Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU. Quite an upgrade from my Phenom II X4 3200 black
For the Oldest Son:
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz

White Enermax Hoplite ST Mid Tower Computer Case, Integrated 3-Step Fan Speed Controller, Front USB 3.0, w/ Dual 120mm Fans
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply
For the Middle Son:
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P(rev 5.0) AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Blu Red Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model
TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
LOGISYS Computer CS305BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Enhanced SOHO Computer Case 480W Power Supply
And he inherits my current XFX Radeon HD 6870
And the youngest gets the cheapest Ubuntu powered notebook I can find.
Sucks to be the runt.
Anyway, I will hopefully be very busy very soon on all these builds.hannibal liked this post

Make sure you teach them. Let them be involved in the process. The world needs plenty of geeks.

We are building them all together. The oldest helped me build his current rig but he is going to do most of the work on this one. The middle one will be helping on his and doing most of the work on his next one. The oldest will do it all for his next one.
The middle one wants to be a programmer. He has already made a text based adventure game. Not too bad for 8th grade. His PC is mostly going to be for that and some light gaming.
The oldest is into video production. He is in a trade program at his high school for that. He had a PSA he produced and directed on the American channel here during the Superbowl last year. His PC is for that and some more involved gaming.
Doing my part to pass on the geekiness

So there were some last minute changes. I took advantage of some advance black Friday sales and changed the R290 to an XFX model, the Corsair H100i to a Coolermaster Seibion 240, and the mobo from the 65 to the 45 and saved over $100 in the process. But the end result is still a Haswell i7 and an R290 with independent water loops on the way. I listened to some YouTube videos of the Coolermaster and the Corsair today and the Coolermaster quieter than the Corsair anyways.

Ah the joys of overseas shipping... I got the R290, its water loop, my RAM, and my i7 4770k and its water loop but not the motherboard today. So I can just stare at the awesome parts and wait...

What can Brown do for you?
GIMME MY SHIT YOU SLOW-ASS MOFOS!!!!
Nothing worse than waiting for something, and watching 10 UPS trucks circling the hood, stopping at every house but yours.
And isn't that always the case.....The first part you have to install is always the last part to arrive. Oh well....At least you are on the verge of awesome.
