My recommendation, if you can wait on the video card do so, the 290 partner boards aren't out yet, and those are what you want. The cooler on the 290 reference boards leave much to be desired. With the Change in heat management to keeping the board at 95 degrees C for optimum heat transference, you'll want an non reference design.

If budget is a concern, go with an i5 over the i7, you really won't see much of if any in the way of a performance increase.

Ram is much the same with regards to speed and costs.

Moral get 1600, save money, preforms great. I've got 16GBs and I'm more than happy with it.

Enthusiast parts don't often go on sale and often are nothing more than bragging rights. Just my 2 Cents.

Also, consider you can buy a AMD 290 and flash it to a 290X part... but the stock AMD cooler sucks and is VERY noisy. Wait for ASUS, MSI and others to release their third-party cooling solutions. It'll make a noticeable difference in temperature and noise levels.

Tom's Hardware did a neat article where they replaced the stock cooler on a 290 with an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme III:

Radeon R9 290: Aftermarket Cooling To The Rescue

The card ran 10 degrees cooler at peak usage. The videos at the end of the article show you the difference in noise between the AMD stock cooler, and the Accelero on max and min fan speeds.
