    New Graphics Card

So I've been having a ton of issues with my Nvidia Geforce GTX 570 and after troubleshooting it as much as i could and then sending it off to get it worked on all to no avail I have decided to get a new card and be done with it. Since I am still learning about computers I figured I would ask you guys for suggestions on what would be a good card to get. I would prefer to get a Nvidia card to keep installation simple but I am open for whatever. Thanks for the help.

770GTX is the bang for buck champ right now.

    Re: New Graphics Card

I'm not sure why people still have the impression that AMD cards aren't plug and play, or at least as plug and play as an Nvidia card. Getting my 7870 to work coming right off of a GTX 560 was simple. I didn't even uninstall the Nvidia drivers and had no issues. I'm on the unlucky side in that I got an older model 7870 that doesn't have the black screen issue, but isn't issue free like the newer ones are.

But what it comes down to is the R9 280X and the GTX 770. They're within 30 dollars of each other, so the choice really comes down to preference of brand. If you don't care about noise and can spare a bit of extra coin, the R9 290 is an absolute monster. But, if not having to switch driver sets is important, which I understand, then the 770 is the way to go.

What's also really important is what other PC components do you have? You don't want to buy too strong of a card just to have it be bottlenecked by another part.

I disagree Kanati...R9 280X is best bang for the buck IMO. At least as far as graphics performance goes. IIRC you get Assassins Creed IV and Splintercell with the 770 and BF4 with the 280X.

I recently purchased the gtx 770 4gb, and it kicks ass. But I've always been partial to Nvidia.

Can't agree. 770 is about 20% faster in passmark benchmark for only 30 dollars more average. And you could probably find a 770 for nearly the same price as the 280X.

    I stand by my assessment.

Nvidia has a better track record with hardware and drivers than AMD for the last 4-5 years (IMO). Not to say AMD doesn't make decent gear and a good sale can't get you a solid card.
