    Acoustic Cryptanalysis

    Acoustic cryptanalysis

Ah the never ending back and forth is always interesting.

It'll be fun tossing this into the room of my info sec friends tomorrow and pointedly look at them and say......

So.... Our full disk encryption..... About that.....

And just chuckle all the way out the door.

    There can be only one

The styrofoam insulating sheets will be on the loading dock by Monday.

In related news, they will have each-others passwords figured out by the end of the day Friday.

And you all said us sysadmins were being overbearing when we said no cell phones in the server room. This is why we don't allow them in our office at all.

And how do you protect your information from leaking on to your power mains, a much more realistic problem?

DC power to the server room. All servers and switches run on DC. None of that gets past the inverters to the grid. 😀

As an electrical engineer, I disagree. If your system isn't properly designed, EM fields will leak everywhere.

Obligatory. First rule of computer security is that there is no such thing as perfect security. To use this approach an attacker has to want your data really badly.

That's true. But for some of us(or those we work for) that is a very real possibility.

I once wired a lab (for a place that made high-end hearing aids) that had a room that was designed to be completely EM free. It was lined with lead, and had 2'x2' steel tiles covering the walls. No radios or cellphones would work in there, twas kinda cool.
