True.....but at another $350 versus the ~$100 it would cost him now to upgrade to the 780.....which also may not be necessary if his goal is to run BF4 smoothly on Ultra.

Two 770's are awesome, but I also know that Poop also has a little money vortex on the way. And btw Poop....Congrats!

the biggest thing about the 780 is that it is incredibly quick and more energy efficient.

Single-Card Results: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The GeForce GTX 770 Review: Calling In A Hit On Radeon HD 7970?

In elder scrolls the gtx 770 pulls ~75 fps

    The gtx780 pulled ~97

    all other things equal

They don't indicate whether the gtx 770 was 2GB or 4GB though. Actually, neither of those links say.

I would like to better understand where the bottleneck starts and why, when looking at VRAM, clock speed, and etc.

Edit: I also intend to play with a single monitor only. I don't plan on being one of those 3 monitor people, wife wouldn't like that much.

You will never use more than 2GB of GPU Ram with a single monitor gaming at 1080. The 4GB model is meant to push 2or 3 large display at resolutions greater than 1080p. You will get better performance on the 780 over either of the 770s 2GB or 4GB. The 3GB on the 780 has enough power to push 3 or 4 screens at greater than 1080p. The 780 is also faster for a single gaming monitor.

direct testing of the 770 2gb and 4gb in BF4, they get the same framerates.

If you head back to Fry's for some reason this weekend, Newegg has a 4 GB EVGA GTX770 on sale until midnight Sunday for $389.99:

Not that it matters, but those are 760's.

Interesting to see the 4GB is actually slightly lower on the fps at 1080, I would expect it to be at least identical...

good eye, the additional ram doesn't increase FPS it allows larger resolutions

And that only translates to larger monitors/multiple monitors?

The one Victor posted is superclocked too. I wonder how that one compares. It's annoying to see so many choices because even the same choices are all a little different. One 770 can be hugely different from the next.

I wonder if anyone is having a sale on the 780 anytime soon.

    Edit: superclocked, not overclocked.
