Re: RAM Not Being Utilized?
I've never heard of any recent chipset that runs memory the way you describe it. And that's what's going to drive the memory. The chipset, not who made the motherboard. I'll be interested to find out what mobo you have as well that may do this crazy thing.
What I HAVE heard is that if you run all banks of memory full some will DOWNCLOCK. That's not uncommon but one step of memory speed doesn't change the overall speed of the system much. Typically 1-2 fps in games.

Re: RAM Not Being Utilized?
Ah, I think you might be right. I think I've got a 32bit chipset architecture in my head for some reason. Oh well, no ones perfect.
Oops my bad, HeavyG.
And you're totally right about some boards clocking down the ram when the slots are full.
Either way, I wasn't implying that my system would be faster with just two sticks, just a little more efficient and cooler.
As it stands right now if I cut my ram in half I'll exceed 30% of my capacity when it's really working hard and might get up to 50% if I multi-task like Kanati. Which might annoy me so I might just keep all 4. lol
