Couple of things... Any beeps (this is critical)?

Can you get into bios? If so, enable long post (youll have to look for it, may be listed as something like: long post, extended post, disable asus boot logo, etc, or may just be hitting 'tab' at the asus logo). Once you get post showing, see where it stops... Some times these things can be a hdd being stupid, or you find you have net boot enabled, or could be bad mem in the first slot, some times a bad mobo though they usually complain with beeps.

    But first, any beeps?

    No beeps.
I can get into bios. I'll have a look at my options in bios. Think I saw it before.

As for the memory test. The test I performed this morning took 3 hours and 45 minutes. The summary said that I successfully passed 100% of the 44 tests the program performed on my system.

Oh, and I put the one memory stick is in the second slot because that's what I read as being "recommended" in the ASUS board manual. I'll change the POST option and see what happens.

Well, I went into bios and disabled "fast boot".
I also disabled the ASUS logo.

I'm still not seeing the post though.

Before, when I started up, I would see the ASUS logo, then I would see the ASUS logo again but this time with the scrolling dots, that's where it used to freeze.

Now, when I start up, I don't see the ASUS logo, I see a list of the SATA drives and a little bit of info, then the next page is of the Windows logo and it has the scrolling dots.

The length of boot is still the same. So far I've booted up 3 times and no freeze.

Have you visited the ASUS website to see if there is a BIOS update available for your board?

Ah, I think I know the problem.... you have a motherboard with asus express gate (I think). You should totally disable that..... and make it boot straight to the OS instead.

Is that what they call it, or do they call it the fast boot? I wonder if it might have been the fast boot because I haven't had the issue yet with freezing since disabling.
