Warcraft III, WNR3500 Router, and Port Forwarding
Yes, Warcraft III is old school, but to my boys it is "new" and fun. My wife has already twisted their little minds by exposing them to Minecraft (even my 3 yr old is playing Minecraft now!). No ... they will not be told about RUST!
Anyway, I am hoping someone can help with our new "problem." Unfortuantely, my boys crash their PCs when they attempt to play Warcraft III over our LAN. I've set the Router up long ago for Warcraft III and I checked with the following site: Port Forwarding the Netgear WNR3500 Router for Warcraft III
Unfortunately, this didn't seem to solve their problem. Does anyone have an idea of what I may have missed?
All the computers have static IPs. I am forwarding Port 6112. I am using one of the static IPs as the server for the game.
We are grateful for any guidance/help y'all have to offer.
Thank you.
Wife says the error she is getting on the PC when it crashes is the following:
This application has encountered a critical error:
FATAL ERROR!
Program: C:\PROGRA~1\WARCRA~2\war3.exe

A port not forwarded right shouldn't cause the program to crash. Only thing I can think to tell you is to make sure you are running the game in compatibility mode (xp with service pack 3 or whatever xp option it gives).
