From what I saw everyone gets read permissions though. Which I don't want.

This just occurred to me, does SyncToy with with Windows 8.1? I know it does with Windows 7. Might be an easier way to sync 2 folders on different PCs.

You could encrypt the folder being shared so that you can't access it w/o a key. Or under advanced share, if you go to permissions you can select the groups/usernames that can access the file. You can delete everything for all accounts except the one that you want to view it. When you try to access it from another PC it should prompt you for a username and password(you can use the admin account on the PC your files are on)...once you enter that you should have access to it, and nobody else should be able to view it.

I got it working. I added myself as a user in permissions and removed "Everyone" so now only I can even see it. not sure why I made that so difficult thanks all
