Re: tv shopping
My 50" Panasonic has to be at least 6 years old now, and it looks as good as the day I plugged it in. Nothing but happy with the plasma.
However, I haven't hooked my desktop up to it because I am worried about burning the screen with the task bar and widgets. Eventually, I will go with a bigger LED, and hook my dt up to it (Steam Big Picture), and move my plasma into my bedroom.

Yeah don't hook the pc up to a plasma. They may not be as bad as they used to be about burn-in but they still have a problem with it.
They all run 60hz, but the way they create an image they don't have problems with motion blur like other tech does. For each frame they create 10 subfields. The reason for this is the pixels don't have any intensity variability. They are on or off. So to create brightness they turn the pixels on and off up to 10 times for each frame. That's why plasma manufacturers will *say* their tvs are 600hz. 10 subfields per frame. But it's not really 600hz. It's 60hz multiplied.
A good LCD running 240hz (or better) can do just as well combatting motion blur.
