Anybody else see this?
I have only ever owned one mechanical keyboard, and it has Cherry Browns with silencer rings. It's got good feedback but is noticeably quieter than the reds. I wonder how these new Orange and Green switches will feel and whether or not they will be released in non-Razer products.

Coming soon. Did you check their site? The keyboard has headset jacks in the side.

Yeah. Cherry's patents recently expired, so Razer designed their own switches based on the Cherry design. The key difference is the actuation point (where the key press is registered) is 3mm closer than Cherry switches. They should have a supply more readily at hand and cost to manufacturer should be lower.

I expect them to charge a high price premium for their Green and Orange switches, when 3mm difference is really a small optimization in the long run. A mechanical is already miles better than a rubber dome or scissor switch keyboard, so these new switches are only going to be noticeable at extremely high levels of gaming.
When I zapped my mechanical into oblivion and was waiting on the RMA, I had a scissor switch keyboard that I still played BF4 on, and did just barely worse on (we're talking effectively no difference, just some slight frustration on my part not have reloaded or reacted fast enough).
I'm not trying to knock Razer (even though I won't buy any more of their stuff - they don't build their mice to last these days), but I'm just saying that this isn't something to get real excited over."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

The 2014 variants of the Black Widow using the new Razer switches are already $30-40 cheaper. Cherry really charges a huge premium on their switches. I think with the cost savings Razer is seeing they're going to pass this on to the consumer.

My copperhead lasted for >5 years. My Naga lasted for 3 years, I think?. Not long term at all. If my current Blackwidow wasn't still performing like a champ, I'd be picking up this most likely.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I had a Razer keyboard several years ago and it was awful. It was one in
Of their first and it wasn't mechanical. I'm sure their current keyboards are much better but that one was garbage. I'd consider this for a replacement keyboard down the road...
Mostly because I turn into a woman and just have to buy something if it has orange in/on it
