Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 now on sale for $350 | Tech Culture - CNET News
The DK2 takes cues from Oculus' Crystal Cove prototype, including a low-persistence OLED to tamp down on simulator sickness and improve the potential for presence. It has a high-definition 960x1,080 per-eye display for improved clarity, color, and contrast.

Can Sony's Project Morpheus finally bring virtual reality to home console gaming? | Reviews - Games and Gear - CNET Reviews
Virtual reality is the holy grail of gaming. The ultimate in digital immersion -- at least, that is, until we can all get our own "Star Trek: TNG"-style holodeck. Complete visual entry into a computer-generated world was the stuff of fantasy in the '80s and a near reality in the '90s before being quickly being written-off and mostly forgotten by the end of the century.
Now, thanks largely to the Oculus Rift, virtual reality is back in the public eye. Sony desperately wants to get in on that excitement, unveiling a concept device called Project Morpheus at the Game Developers Conference. It's the full-on VR experience for your PlayStation 4, but there's a problem: console accessories always fail.

My brother taught the game production/virtual worlds class in the CS department at my school last semester and one of my buddies who enrolled in the class bought the first-gen oculus dev kit. He and his team made this awesome first person space flight sim for their class project and had oculus rift support.
I tried it out after they demo'd it to the class and it was really pretty awesome. I never had much interest in it before until I tried it out. I still probably won't purchase one for a while but the hardware is very slick. I'll get one someday, but I don't have much use for one now.

Rift2 looks cool, checked them out at gdc today, so does Intel realsense (a better approach to what kinect was trying to do in just about all areas and more). Lots of good new tech coming
