I can't believe you don't know this, but just in case you're not joking:

To keep the bad chickens out, and the good chickens in.

I mean, it's called CHICKEN WIRE. Did you think that's because it's made from chickens?

    Re: Ethernet drops

I have a newer house (built in 2005) that has stucco on the outside and then chicken wire then a spray in foam insulation then blown in insulation then drywall (order from outside to inside. They used the chicken wire as a support for the foam insulation to adhere to. Now to the original questions, getting the lines from your router to the room you want them isn't the hard part, getting the line down the outside wall and into the right cavity and then into a wall plate is the hard part. I had 24 lines run in my house when I bought it 6 months ago and I ended up paying a company to come out and do it. They had to cut access holes to get into parts of my attic and used some drills to get through the insulation (and joints - have 10 foot ceilings) in the walls. Could I have done it myself? maybe. Would I have screwed something up and had to pay to fix it, likely. As a side note I did 4 lines to each room, you said you are only doing a single? If you are going to do the work I always advise the material cost of the cat 6a is nothing compared to the labor should you decide you need another line later. Could you just use a router at the end? Sure but that won't fix it if the line itself gets severed or degrades over time and you have to run a whole another line at a later time when its 150+ degrees in your attic.
