Re: Need some input on Tablets
I've had 3 different ASUS transformers and never had any real issues with them.
With the 701T, never had any issue with wifi connectivity. Never had any issues with the dock. Slowness or locking up? Nope. Heat..................... It's an nvidia tegra 4. Yeah it's gonna get a little toasty if you are using the gpu, but it's not crazy or anything. That goes for any tablet though. If it's got a good gpu and you are using it, it's gonna get warm. But for normal use; browsing web, email, etc it doesn't get hot.

I did have a problem with the asus tab that I sold Maximusboomus in that the rocker switch for the volume got sticky and unresponsive without excessive pressure on it. That was a known problem with that model and was fixed with the 701T.

Re: Need some input on Tablets
I do find the Asus slow, I mainly use it solely for Netflix for the kids and a portable media center for the rest of the time. The volume rocker is shite, and the keyboard to tablet connector did break so it doesn't lock anymore. But I don't mind all those issues as its doing a fine job.
It does occasionally lock up and can be a little confused looking for Wi-Fi connections.

Re: Need some input on Tablets
A tab with "similar" stats to the 701T you might be interested in would be the Nexus 10... but it's a bit older... no microsd slot... not quite as good graphics... 2560x1600 resolution though... (If you are going to be reading a lot on it, the higher ppi you can get, the better.)
The galaxy tab PRO 10.1 is a pretty hefty tab with an 8 core exynos processor and adreno 330 graphics (over 4 times faster than the 305 that's in the gal tab you linked) and 2560x1600 resolution. Trouble is... it only has 16 gig of ram and is 150 dollars more than the asus. Best bang for the buck remains the asus. Not that I wouldn't get a gal tab pro... but the price is a bit much.
