I never said IPS didn't have better quality color reproduction man and you are right you can game just fine on an IPS. However you have a better experience on a TN playing games especially when you run them at a higher frame rate with higher refresh rate and herz it is a truly excellent experience.

A good quality TN panel can match the color accuracy of an IPS display, albeit only when viewed head on.

I'm firmly in the camp, however, that most of a good player's gameplay comes from the player him or herself. I play BF4 on an e-IPS ASUS monitor that I got for $140. The input delay is most likely massive, but I appreciate its built in pixel-overdrive (motion blur reduction) and clarity over a similarly cheap TN panel. And despite all the input delay, I still manage to kick everyone's ass up and down the block. You can give a newblood a 144hz monitor driven by the best GPU, but until he learnshow the game actually works, he'll do poorly just like everyone else.

That being said, I have seen what BF4 is like on a 144hz monitor. I admit that going back to my 60Hz IPS was pretty painful after testing it, but I got used to the 60Hz again. If I could afford the hardware to drive 120+ fps, I would be damned if I didn't get a monitor to match.

I'll take speed and smoothness over color accuracy any day. Therefore, TN > IPS for gaming at least.

I would have waited and bought the ROG Swift, but 27" is just too big for the distance I sit at. Really nice monitor though. I bought the asus vg248qe instead and am thinking about getting the GSYNC DIY kit.

The only time I care about color accuracy is when I'm working in photoshop/manga studio/etc. Gaming I want smoothness. This monitor, with the right gpu will have that with the g-sync stuff. But it's a bit pricier than I want to pay for a monitor.

I agree to an extent, but player skill and end user experience are two completely different things. There are plenty of good players out there on many different levels of equipment, and having the best equipment doesn't make up for poor reaction time and hand/eye coordination.

Player dedication also plays a huge factor as not all people that play BF4 can put 500 hours into it and want to achieve level 120 greatness. Some just want to hop on and play, not really caring about their rank, but wanting the absolute best gaming experience they can get. To them, they wouldn't be getting the absolute best experience off of a $140 monitor at 1080p resolution. I am sure it is playable, and probably looks pretty good for what it is (an affordable 1080p screen), but some want more. PCs can deliver a far superior gaming experience if you have the means to purchase the components. This monitor is one of said components.

Fancy monitors, high end graphics cards, expensive sound cards, speakers, headphones, IR head tracking setups, racing wheels, HOTAS fligh sticks, and even the OculusVR are all devices that improve the overall experience, but at a price. There is a market for this kind of stuff, and it isn't for everyone, primarily because of the cost being a huge barrier to entry.

Sadly, this monitor was not at Quakecon. PC Perspective did give away one of these monitors, but it wouldn't arrive for about 6 weeks as they have not shipped to the U.S. yet.
