I really want to try Gsync out. I saw it at PAX and Quakecon, and it was very impressive within my limited experience, but I want to have the consumer experience. I know there will be benefits, but I want to make sure the benefits are worth the cost, which is absolutely subjective and opinion based, but I can't express it until I get the monitor.

For me, Linus' review was enough as he went to some good detail. Yeah, crappy viewing angles, but getting to have V-sync with no screen tearing seals the deal for me (if I had the extra money, emphasis on extra).
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Then again, it's sooooooooooo nice to finally see >60Hz IPS panel. That was my rule for a new monitor before G-Sync actually released. I can't wait for the day when there's a >60Hz IPS/PLS with G-Sync. I would die of joy (not really since I couldn't enjoy the monitor then).

I paid more for my current monitor. When I got the Dell U2711, Dell was selling for $1199. I had a 25% off coupon, putting it at about $840 plus tax. The U2711 has been a great monitor. Seeing how I have owned it for about 5 years, I think I got a pretty good return from it. It has survived 4 trips to Quakecon and has been run for 12+ hours every day since I purchased it.
So through the current date, the cost of ownership of my Dell monitor was about $180/year. Considering the amount I use it for work, the benefits from the higher resolution (increased real estate), and enjoyment from the picture quality during gaming and viewing media, I think it was TOTALLY worth it. I will be transitioning my U2711 over to my permanent work monitor once the ROG Swift arrives, so the cost of ownership/year will continue to decline as long as the Dell is functional. If it lasts me another 5 years, I will take a $90/year cost of ownership for such a great monitor that gave me many years of enjoyment on a daily basis.
Was the Dell an expensive monitor? Um... yeah. But it was worth it to me, and that is what really matters. I think the ROG Swift is the next logical step, even though it is a TN panel. Hopefully, the Swift will last me 5+ years as well.

FML...
http://www.shopblt.com/cgi-bin/shop/...er_id=!ORDERID!
Looks like my order is being pushed back ANOTHER week. At least I will be traveling for work the week after next, so maybe it won't be such a bad thing after all. I have pretty much put myself on notify from every seller I can find that isn't trying to price gouge.
