07-06-14, 11:02 AM #1ASUS ROG Swift
Is anyone else excited about this monitor? For those of you that are already WQHD (2560x1440), this is the first gaming monitor designed at this resolution. Back when it was announced at CES, it was only a 120Hz monitor, but they were able to up the refresh rate to 144MHz.
While I may be sad to see my current IPS panel go, I think the features offered by the Swift will make it an acceptable replacement for my Dell U2711. I may keep the Dell around and use it for my work monitor. Of course, sticking with 2560x1440 resolution means I will need to continue running some beefy graphics hardware, which is quite annoying and expensive, but the end user experience is really what matters when purchasing a display like this.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift
My 60hz qnix (overclocks as high as 120hz) is plenty good enough... Paid less than 400 for it. And I only run a single 680GTX and don't have any issues with framerates. Seems more than a bit overkill at more than double the price unless you are looking for g-sync.

Well, that is really the point of this monitor. GSYNC @ 2560x1440 + 144Hz + 1ms response = No screen tear, input lag, ghosting with high resolution. ASUS also claims to be using an extremely high quality TN panel, and while I prefer IPS panels for pretty much everything else, the screen tearing on some games can be quite annoying.
My dual Titans run pretty much everything on the highest detail settings over 60 FPS, but some games, such as BioShock Infinite, have such awful screen tearing, I have to turn VSYNC on, which I also do not like. To me, this monitor seems like the best compromise between quality and performance. I never purchased one of those Korean made overclock-able panels as not all of them overclock well. It has always been a toss up of 1080P @ 120Hz +, or 1440p @ 60Hz (with the benefit of IPS). With this monitor, you get the clarity and fidelity of 2560x1440 resolution, with refresh rate synchronization via Nvidia GSYNC, max refresh rate of 144Hz, and a 1ms response time.
I plan on being an early adopter for this monitor and will be placing my order as soon as it is available.

07-06-14, 03:20 PM #4I love the refresh rate and response time of my 27" benQ but the panel is my one complaint. It doesn't have the sharpness my ASUS IPS panel has. To have the functionality + gsync + a good panel is more than attractive to me at this point. I probably will wait another 6 months or so before I upgrade anything but I would definitely like to have one of these down the road

Re: ASUS ROG Swift
I feel like if I goto the swift I will have to drop from dual monitors to a single since I only use a GTX 760 4GB.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift
lol...no thanks... and why on Earth does it have speakers? You know they're gonna be trash.
EDIT:
I guess it doesn't have speakers..one site claimed it did. :/
When it comes down to it, it's an $800-$900 TN panel. Albeit a fancy TN panel..but a TN nonetheless. Also, I'd wait...early adopt, why? Didn't AC:M teach you anything? :PLast edited by Guyver; 07-07-14 at 02:37 AM.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift
TN panels aren't the travesties most people think they are. That's just put out there by color correctness and viewing angle elitists. TN panels especially a high end one like this one will have great colors, far better than average view angle, and the best gaming experience one could ask for with high refresh rates and tons of herz. If TN panels didn't have those last two key edges over the IPS panels I would have bought an IPS panel years ago.
