Re: Upgrade Titans?
The point is that he has the money and can spend it however he pleases. And explaining why is not required.

Heavy uses them, plays BF4 all the time and no doubt will be able to pull 4k or even 8k on these guys.
It's just like building muscle cars. Throw a bunch of time, money, and effort into building something disgustingly overpowered, use it for a bit, then sell it or scrap it to work on the next project.
Plus, there is almost a "taming the beast" experience to be had with overclocking a war horse of a machine like that. You can run everything at stock if you want, but pulling off all of the safeguards and training wheels to manipulate the input voltages yourself to find that sweet spot of optimum performance and eliminate every bottleneck you can...well it's like doing a sudoku puzzle. Albeit a ludicrously expensive sudoku puzzle, but it's an experience all the same.
I for one can't wait to see this mammoth at QC next summer.

Re: Upgrade Titans?
If anyone spends that much on any hobby...and then turns around and says "Well, I don't actually play with the stuff that much." People are gonna ask questions..it's a given. Don't like it? Well, I don't know what to say. He's frothing at the mouth cause he doesn't have this monitor. Why? So he can set it on his desk and look at it? That's about what it would amount to, given what he's said in this topic.

To me, the whole fun is the build. When I built my last Green Monster, in my mind, the part I loved the most was customizing and modifying the case to meet my needs. Cutting, stripping, painting, powder coating, and then selecting every single component, not only based on function, but also by design was easily the most fun (and stressful) part of the building process. It isn't for everyone, and I am well aware of that. If you aren't in to it, then don't do it, but it is no different than any other hobby.
But I totally get it and understand that people in this world are in varying financial situations, and this sort of thing would absolutely not make any sense for someone living paycheck to paycheck, but for me, at this point in my life, it isn't a big deal.
Trust me, if I wasn't building another gaming PC, I would have just tossed more into Bitcoin/Litecoin mining, not for the money, because I like tinkering with the mining hardware/software. That, or painting the outside of my house... but I am waiting until it cools down and stops raining so damn much.

Uh... I think I said that since my office is out of my home, I use the monitor for 10-12 hours/day, which I would consider "above average" usage. No matter if I am gaming on it all the time or not, I am generally in front of my computers for at least 10 hours/day.
And I limit a % of my income towards my hobbies because they keep me happy. My job is stressful, makes me miserable, but pays me enough to buy some temporary happiness between workdays.

Re: Upgrade Titans?
Fit your needs? What needs? You don't even use the stuff that much. That's why you're able to get such good prices for this stuff when you sell it, it's barely used.
Salty's muscle car analogy is so far off the mark, it's not even funny. They aren't still making 1965 Mustangs, or 1970 Chevelles, or 1970 Cudas. How many of those monitors will they make? Millions. Same with the 980's....and in six months or less...another card.
EDIT
So, you bought an $800 monitor....for office use?....smooooth..lol.Last edited by Guyver; 10-03-14 at 05:59 PM.
