Salty's muscle car analogy is so far off the mark, it's not even funny. They aren't still making 1965 Mustangs, or 1970 Chevelles, or 1970 Cudas. How many of those monitors will they make? Millions. Same with the 980's....and in six months or less...another card.

First you don't know what kinda use he gets out of it on a daily basis so why would even begin to judge him for it. Secondly you spend your money on things you like and nobody judges you on it so why judge HeavyG about where he chooses to spend his money. As far as I can tell he is smart about his purchases and know what he is doing and best of all he loves doing it and at the end of the day that's all we need in life.

I know what uses he's going to get from the monitor...because he just said it....and $800 for a monitor that will see mostly office use is asinine, no matter how you slice it.

If that's what he wants to do with his fantastic monitor that is easier to look at for longer periods of time then so be it

Ok....go to any office building in the world and tell them that before you go to work for them, you'll "need' an $800 monitor because it makes for easier long hour viewing....then, count to five. Before you get to four...they'll be laughing.

Not if I choose the right one. Go into a graphic designer or marketing firms office they will probably laugh at you for how little the amount of money is. Point is dude you can have a differing opinion on where you would spend your money to make you happy but you can't sit there and say whatever makes someone else happy is stupid or that the person is stupid for thinking so.

Having coded/done lots of less than fun problem hunting (station software) on shitty monitors and having done lots of the same on the monitor I bought for $500, I'll take the higher quality monitor any day for heavy usage. Hell, I'd take it even if I gamed/coded/etc. rarely. Excellent viewing angles and the option to switch the screen to vertical is very convenient for what I do. It looks purdier than a tree fiddy dolluh hoar, too.

Is Heavy a graphic designer? No. I know what he does...and it doesn't require a monitor like that..not even close. Paying that much for a gaming monitor is silly to me...paying that for much for said monitor, when you know you're not going to use it that much for gaming, but rather for office work? Even sillier.

Seeing as you have derailed this conversation I am no longer going to explain why you are in the wrong because you won't ever admit so instead I will get this thread back on track.

I remember when the Cosmo SE came out. I thought personally it seemed a bit pointless because it was an even smaller cosmos but the esthetic is still there so and it is cheaper so that's a plus. The case I am wanting these days is the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. Man that thing is sexy and it's very mod friendly with the case being put together with screws instead of little rivets.
