    Preserving battery life?

    Is there a recommended way of using noteboooks/laptops on battery in order to prolong the life of the battery i.e. always allowing the battery to almost completely discharge before charging it? Battery life being how long it will last before needing to be replaced as opposed to how long the system will run on battery.

    Allow it to fully discharge occasionally. Don't overcharge. Don't charge it when it's only 50% depleted, do so when it's near the end of it's cycle. Never expose batteries to extreme temps for prolonged periods. Not even cold.
