Re: SSD Opinion
Broken, I'm a little confused by your post. Are you now running in AHCI mode? When I installed my 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO, I couldn't get it to install in AHCI mode, and had to install in IDE mode (I also have a Gigabyte MB). I later used the registry edit that allows switching to AHCI mode, which worked and improved my read and write speeds. I have been running around 280/270 sequential read and write, but my dated MB is only SATA II, so I was OK with that.
Just last week I decided to try RAPID mode in Samsung Magician (uses system RAM caching), and sequential read/write (per Magician) are now roughly 3000/1900! I thought this had to be inaccurate, but a web search indicated the benchmarks are legit. Whether this results in a perceptible difference in computing speed is debatable. Something to consider, anyway.Last edited by Viktor_Olin; 02-09-15 at 07:32 PM.

Re: SSD Opinion
I use a Samsung 850 Pro 1TB and have to say it's phenomenal. Fast and reliable and not a single Samsung SSD I have owned has ever gone bad. Had problems with PNY, Patriot, Corsair and Kingston. No problems with Crucial or Intel either.
