    ??? Desktop icons disappear and a grey box shows up?

    New on me, it's been happening to my father lately. Maybe 3 or 4 times.

    He's not sure what he does but all his icons disappear from his desktop. All his windows are minimized, not closed. And, this small grey box shows up.

    If he clicks to box the box goes away and the icons come back.

    Surfed around a few forums and threads, didn't turn up much. Just one other case which was never solved.



    Thoughts?

    Yes those were among the threads and forums I've been through. both irrelevant to my father's particular case.
