Hard drive issues
I'm getting low on space on my main hard drive, so I have this one laying around from my old rig now I'm trying to put it in and it will not initialize. Is this impossible to do? Command prompt doesn't recognize it, I would like to save the stuff on it but if I could just wipe it that would be good too. After looking online most say download or buy a program, I tried one free one that didn't recognize it either. I called a local computer place and they claim they can fix it. Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Re: Hard drive issues
Does it show up in bios? If so, under computer management in control panel -> administrative tools, make sure it shows up there. It might show up as offline. Just right click and choose "online". It will then come up with a drive letter if it has a valid file system on it.

Re: Hard drive issues
I have windows 7 home premium, the bios I have for my mother board shows the hd but can't recognize how big it is (1 TB).
I will try that after work and let you know how it goes.
Also, disk management doesn't show it.Last edited by Demonofspeed07; 05-19-15 at 03:27 PM.

Re: Hard drive issues
Yes, it's one of my most recent upgrades, MSi with the control center and click bios.... But I knew the old bios I had better this one seems to not give me much on controlling my drive. Everything else is great though. The Bios recognizes sata 3 being plugged in... Idk I think it's dead.
I have jumper pins in the back of the hd but no jumper, does that matter?
