Spare parts Request
So I'm working to try and get a new (to her) computer setup for my fiancee's grandmother. She is currenty working off an outdated (sevearly) system. The issue here is that I'm not being allowed to spend any amount of money on this, so the easiest method is out, and that is why I'm here. I'm looking for some older computer parts to macgyver together a new system. I will be buying a new HD and getting windows (or maybe will use a linux version but doubt it) so I won't need to do that. Also, I will be using her old case and an old PSU I have, so what I really need is a motherboard (with built in video, processor, and memory. Another catch is my girl leaves in < 2 weeks to her home, which I won't get to go to until Decmber (so basically if you're coming to Quakecon that may be the only option). So, my request is if anyone has some old parts laying around that can work to put something together for a 75 year old for free to minmal cost. If someone is willing to donate an old part that would be awesome, I can totally buy you dinner, drinks, or something like that! I may be able to get the parts together through myself, family and a friend here, but wanted to get this request out if anyone had something laying around they'd rather get used.
Thanks!(NC-17) Howlin: got plans for me do you?
[TPG] ab1tar: oh yeah

(NC-17) Howlin: woh abbi, should you buy me dinner first

My wife craptop bought the farm last week and I'm replacing it with this. Hmm let's see...
I have an AsRock p67 Extreme4 generation 3 ATX motherboard - standard size that should fit the case you're probably thinking of using? It's got an LGA 1155 socket and housed a Sandy Bridge CPU I used to have but unfortunately no longer do :/
ASRock > P67 Extreme4
I doubt her grandma is going to be into any gnarly gaming, but this thing was a beast when I bought it several years ago - this board has 4 ddr3 slots that support up to 2133MHz RAM, supports quad SLI, USB3, eSata, 7.1 audio, and tons of other little things that might be way overkill LOL
I unfortunately sold or committed to sell pretty much all of my unused parts to people recently so that's really all I can offer - but I'm more than willing to part with it if you can find a Sandy/Ivy bridge CPU to match it - thought that may be more troublesome than helpful...
I think we're sitting right next to eachother at QC so I can slip it under the table to you without anyone seeing
Or I can give it to you outside, that'd probably be easier but not as fun.

I have an old core 2 duo Lenovo workstation with windows 10 on it if you want it. 4gb of ram and 75gb hard drive, on board video and it's a desktop case (kind you can set a monitor on).

Re: Spare parts Request
I'm assuming. I run CPUID and give you the parts that are in it. I will post it a little later
