The Amiga turns 30??Nobody had ever designed a personal computer this way? | Ars Technica
Now I feel really old
I remember drooling over this when it came out. It took me about 3 years to get my first one and many more afterwards. I used it exclusively as my home machine for years until about 1995. It was an amazing machine.
This is where I cut my C/68K Assembly coding skills.
Who else on here had one of lovely machines?
A few years ago I got a copy of the Amiga Forever CD and downloaded a ton of game images for it. Showed some games off to the kids. They got a kick out of Shadow of the Beast, Nuclear War, North vs South, and of course F18 Interceptor.

Re: The Amiga is 30 so who had one?
I had an A500 that I had for a number of years. Upgraded the ram, the cpu, had a hard drive, decked it out. I think it was wing commander that made me sell it and get a PC (486).
Best computer ever made far as I'm concerned. And the FIRST pre-emptive multi-tasking operating system. Took YEARS for everyone else to catch up on that front.

I left the ASM on the 65XX platform where I learned it on the VIC20 and C64... The memory paging threw me for a loop at the time. I went straight C for quite a few years. Loved the SAS C compiler.
