Re: Windows 10 Upgrade ...
That's not actually a "problem" enthusiasts have been spoiled for years by the fact Microsoft want enforcing the license of windows being tied to a single machine. Actually it has always been that way. With Windows 10 they just happen to build in better enforcement.
I may be alone but as a former game developer it's nice when people have to pay for what cost years in sweat and hard work and can't just sidestep the fact it's not freeware.
Sorry just my humble opinion.

Should you have to re-buy every Steam game when you upgrade your PC? How about when just upgrading your motherboard?
For operating systems, the license should be transferrable, but you only get one license. I am all about being fair to the people creating, but if I upgrade my PC every year, I shouldn't have to pay a "Windows tax". I would have several unused licenses, if that was the case.

Yes, there is a difference between concurrent usage and transferring to new hardware. I have 5 win7 keys because I concurrently used them on 5 different PCs. When I upgraded one, I'd reactivate on the new hardware.
It's not about trying to slip through the cracks and get free usage, it's about being allowed to use what you paid for; drm is the same animal. A case could be made for it either way - Microsoft has every right to do whatever they think is best, if they want me to buy a new key, I'll buy a new key. I won't be happy about it, but I'll pay them what they're owed

Well I did a system reset and just deleted everything, starting over. Most of my issues seem to have been resolved, save for my additional monitor getting disabled and my refresh rates dropping to 59Hz every time I boot. Still haven't found a fix for this yet - it's annoying but I can at least deal with it for the time being until I find a good fix

Agreed. Most of the monitors in my house required me downloading drivers from the manufacturer to get the correct refresh rates

Re: Windows 10 Upgrade ...
I dual booted win7 and win10 for awhile, or at least until the initial win10 release bugs got worked out. Once win10 seemed more stable I did a fresh reset and ditched win7 on my machine. I would definitely recommend the fresh install. I've had zero problems as my games and other software run smoothly my drivers are working great and the OS overall is faster.
However I did have to live chat with Microsoft to convince them my fresh install was on the same machine as my free upgrade. Win10 kept saying my key wasn't valid even though I gave them my win7 key and it was recognized by them as such, win10 still wouldn't take it. I did upgrade the processor, added more ram, and upgraded the vid card before the reinstall which I think is where the problem was. I had to prove my purchase of the vid card before they would generate a key for me.
