    Windows 7 or 10?

I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop (the L321X version) and it originally had Windows 7 Pro. I upgraded to 10 Pro. Unfortunately, I didn't get on that laptop often and frequently enough to really test it out and find out if there were any problems. I say that because they give you 30 days to return to original operating system. I missed that window, and I do have problems, two problems to be exact.

Number one, the latest driver for the trackpad disables the trackpad. Can you imagine what it's like to surf the computer and the internet with the Tab key? It's the Cypress trackpad driver, basically, it automatically installs and you can't stop by any already existing means, but I did find a program that hides that particular update. That's my workaround for that problem. It just sucks that I have to use some random program to hide an update to prevent the automatic install of said update when I shouldn't be having this problem to begin with.

Number two, the display randomly gets fuzzy. I don't even have to explain what it looks like. It looks exactly like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPFQchElyIA
The problem is, none of their solutions are working for me....

Other than that, there does seem to be one other minor problem, the brightness key doesn't make the laptop as bright anymore. It's almost as if the max brightness was reduced. Not really a problem, but sometimes I want it brighter.

I'm passed the 30 day window for reverting back to Windows 7 Pro, but I'm looking for another way back. I called Dell, and for $140 including tax (it's no longer under warranty) they can send me a Windows 7 USB stick and I can get Windows 7 back. Although, I haven't learned whether or not it will require me to wipe the hard drive or not... I'm worried about losing my Office 2007 Pro Enterprise version because I lost my CD. Anyways, I'm annoyed at the idea that I have to pay $140 at all because I wish they sent me media with the PC in the first place but this is one of those things where I was supposed to use that Dell Datasafe software as soon as I received the computer, but I guess I never did...

In yalls opinion, is the $140 worth it?

jmw....do a clean install of windows 10 from your current installation.
    Alternatively
Then visit support.dell.com and select drivers and enter your dell service tag. Select the video and trackball drivers and install them

Best option...do a fresh install from your root OS by typing "recovery" and select fresh install...all data will be lost...THEN go to dell and install all drivers using their tool.

I have seen XPS13's running windows 10 without issue.

You said all data will be lost. I'm guessing that includes Office too?

I'm not really understanding your instructions because I'm not given a "fresh install" option simply by typing the word "recovery". When typing "recovery" I'm given two options; "recovery options" in system settings and "recovery" in settings. The first takes me to a new windows 10 layout and gives me two options; reset this PC and Advanced startup. The second option from earlier has an older layout and gives me three options; create recovery drive, open system restore, and configure system restore. Am I missing something?

You could call Microsoft and ask them if you can roll back to Windows 7. They may be able to give you a new product key that re-enables the 30 day rollback option. If you tell them about your hardware incompatibility issues they might just do that.

Worth a call at least. All they can do is say no.

    Re: Windows 7 or 10?

I tried the Windows 10 upgrade on my Laptop, a Toshiba Qosmio X770 with Windows 7 Pro and after the install completed it ran a windows update and after the update my computer would not boot not even in safe mode. I could not roll it back, that options was not available.
I tried to do a fresh install of Win 10 and it failed each time even with a new Hard drive. The Win 7 would install fine.

looks like its a driver issue

    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...ndows+10+fails

That is just a google search of the issue and there are numerous threads citing issues with that model laptop upgrading to or installing windows 10
