    "Buying" Windows 10

My mother's computer needs to be upgraded beyond Vista as she needs Chrome for work and Chrome support has been dropped for Vista.

So, if I buy Windows 7 and install that I should get the free upgrade still, right?

Looking at this (her laptop is 32bit).

Shouldn't be a problem. I would think an upgrade would happen immediately.

Yea that won't be a problem at all. I'd re check the timeline for the free upgrade, but I assume its not till Aug-Nov or around then. I want to say it was supposed to last 1 year.

Sounds good then. ~$40 is a lot better than ~$100.

I can confirm that upon startup (after install) of the windows 7 OS you can go to the upgrade website and immediately upgrade to 10. I have done this a couple times. You will want to create the windows 10 media after the upgrade so that you have media should a reinstall be needed in the future. The key is tied to the motherboard so as long as you are reinstalling to the same system you won't need a serial key.

I believe july 29 is the date you can upgrade.
