Besides the update taking ages and forcing me to do things like cleaning the house instead of studying, it also lead to BSOD chains (memory management). I didn't realize they were BSODs at first because Microsoft updated their appearance (now with QR codes). That a different shade of blue seems to be used now has thrown me off a bit.
Uninstalling Avast in Safe Mode seems to have done the trick. Back to Windows Defender for now.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary update
For those who have Windows 10 Pro you can defer the Anniversary update for quite a while. At least until they work out the bugs. Just go to Settings>Updates and choose defer upgrades. Sadly it's only for people with Pro.
I'm just glad I don't have to be forced to upgrade to the Anniversary update. Hopefully the time they allow you to defer the conflicts with virus protection and drivers that are being reported will be ironed out

Avast has already been ironed out, BUT you either had to have had the Avast update BEFORE the W10 anniversary update or you have to do a clean install.

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary update
There have been many reported problems. I don't want to deal with them so I'm fine to defer for a month or two

Yeah, I noticed that. I also had to disable some of the cortana stuff again due to the integration of her and the search bar, and I had to reinstall my wifi driver since that was acting up. It seems to be going well right now.
I've also noticed that the elevated privileges prompt has a different look. I suppose it looks more modern (pretty far from Windows XP), but the design on a whole feels flat and like everything bleeds together.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Yeah, my total time until my computer went useable went up (boot, login, disk usage <90%). It isn't too much of an increase in absolute terms, but in relative terms...

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary update
had to roll it back last night to pre-anniversary. USB drives were disconnecting I thought when idle, but they disconnected while writing to both last night, trashing both of them. Got one back but still working on the other one.
