    1080 vs 1080 TI

So I have enough for a 1080 saved finally... but then a bit of news says the 1080 TI is likely to be released in january.. for those who pay attention to the pricing/power, etc was the 980 TI that different in power/price then the regular 980... it's been bad enough waiting with an r9 290 till I could upgrade, but I'm impatient at the best of times. would it be that much of a thing to wait for the TI opion.. Especially with blackfriday sale prices likely for the regular 1080?
Thanks Merritt thanked for this post

I'll be getting a 1080ti personally. I don't really need one this second so I can wait for its release.

    get the 1080ti

Likely it will outperform the titan XP, for cheaper.

It will future proof you for a lot longer.

That's what the 980ti did for the previous gen but I am not so certain that will happen this time. The titan this gen is magnitudes more powerful than both its predecessor and the 980ti. I have a hard time believing after seeing the performance of the new titan that a 1080ti would be able to out perform the new titan. That isn't to say that the 1080ti couldn't match the titan though in terms of gaming performance.

There are reports already that the 1080ti will outperform or at the very least match the titans.

    Re: 1080 vs 1080 TI

There's always something better around the corner. But a 1080 now is going to last at least a year before showing it's age and probably two years before it starts struggling at ALL. And that's at 4k. If you haven't moved up to 4k, it won't be outdated at 1080p or even 1440p for quite a while.

I gave up doing the waiting game. Get the best gpu you can afford NOW if it's time to upgrade what you have.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

I'll admit i'm inclined to wait, if I only knew for sure what the pricing would be .. if it's anything like the 980 vs 980ti then it should be something like 50 bucks more, but hell you never know *shrug*

Tell me more about you r9 290. If your looking to unload it, when you upgrade, I may be interested by that time.

Just a sapphire reference r9 290 4gb model... one reason I'll be so happy when i get a new one is the QUIET if the fan spins up compared to the stock/reference blower on the 290

One of the things I have loved about my ASUS Strix 980ti is the 0db mode. I honestly can't hear it until several hours into a heavy gaming session. The Strix cards can be damn silent
