My System Specs & Score from PassMark
I was looking for test to run on my system to see how it shapes up and found "Passmark" I ran the Performance Test 9.
1. Has anyone used this test before?
2. Are there other better test I can run?
3. What do you think I can change to make it better?
I am planning on a rebuild in May and am looking at replacing my Motherboard/CPU and switch to a SSD.

Re: My System Specs & Score from PassMark
First step is to get rid of AMD. You can see that even an i3 intel walks all over. Hate to be blunt about it but those are the simple facts. Unless Zen turns out to be something fantastic for AMD, they are completely out of the competition in the desktop market.
Go for a mid-range intel i7 and you will double your score or better. (And passmark is a good benchmark for all around performance).

$1500 these days will buy you a lot of power.
With that kind of money I would skip the SSD and go directly to NVMe. The Samsung 500GB 960 PRO is around $350 now.
You might think.. how much faster that an SSD is that?
Just check out the charts: https://photographylife.com/nvme-vs-...dd-performance
We just upgraded to them at work and they are sweet.
To put price into perspective:
My son upgraded at Christmas to an i5 6600K gaming rig to play Overwatch on. He paid about 800 after tax for a new Z170A MB, 16GB 3200 ram, Intel i5 6600K, new gaming case, new 750W power supply, 250GB NVMe, 1TB Drive, and an EVO cooler.
He upgraded from an AMD FX rig where he had crappy frames and gave up playing Grand Theft Auto 5. Now he grins from ear to ear.
He did recycle a old R9 270X, but plans to upgrade to a NVIDIA GTX 1070 for another $400 as soon as he can save the $$.
That is probably $1200-1300 out of pocket. Not bad IMHO for a refresh.Last edited by shatter99; 02-14-17 at 06:25 PM.
