Building Cybertron (New Rig Build log)

So I am building my new rig. I'm going to log the whole thing here on the forums with pics. Some parts are already on site as review parts from some manufacturers (so look forward to those reviews soon). Others are either ordered or I am waiting for an item to be released/in stock etc.

    Comments are welcome.

    Current Parts List
(If I have the part in it has an asterisk, others I am waiting on)

    Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VI Hero
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700X 8core 16thread @3.8GHz
    *RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4 3000 BLE4K8G4D30AEEA 32GB
    CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62
NVMe SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 1tb
    *SSD: 2 Crucial MX300 2tb in Raid0
    HDD: WD Black 3tb
*Sound Card: Creative Labs X-fi Titanium
    *Case: Thermaltake Core P5 Black
    *PSU: Seasonic Prime Titanium SSR-850TD
Video Card: EVGA 1090ti ftw (omg can't wait)
    *OS: Windows 10 Professional

I'll add the details on small things like case fans and stuff as I go. I am also making small modifications to the case I will plan and document.

I am also awaiting the new ASUS PG27UQ to review.

Just throwing it out there but Creative's Website had a deal for a sound blaster Z with 5.1 speakers included for $109. The card is $119 on newegg, $88 on sale on amazon, and the speakers are $80.....

I use a Razer Tiamat 7.1 surround headset that is analog, so the X-Fi i have has 7.1 analog output. Its a win win.

Looks like I'll be revising the CPU and mobo if intel doesn't price drop to match AMD Ryzen numbers.

Its not on par with your listed one but I have Asus Auro 970 PRO with has a nifty Ramcache feature that lets your allocate up to 25% of your ram to a single drive for rapid loads. I throw 10gigs to my BF1 SSD.

The Ryzen stuff looks amazing. 8 core and 16 threads for $399 instead of over $900 for sale from intel.

Re: Building Cybertron (New Rig Build log)

Don't go off of just the chinese stuff that leaked... wait til the review embargo on ryzen expires and read everyone else's reviews to get a better idea of what's going to happen. I'm still skeptical but if they can come close to intel for performance they will become an option again.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

    About 7 years.

    AM4 comes out tomorrow.

    AM3+ came out in 2010ish

A good thing though is that motherboards with proper bios support will likely support all AMD processors for ~5 years, and if you get a nice one you will not have to get rid of it when upgrading processors.

Re: Building Cybertron (New Rig Build log)

I have picked the new processor and motherboard I will be using.

    Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VI Hero
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700X. 8 core 16 threads at 3.8GHz

This will only change if between now and the end of the month intel slashes prices.
