Windows 7 or 8 Key Needed

I have a family I am refurbishing an old computer for.
I have run out of legit keys and want to help them but can't really throw money at this problem.
Does anyone have a spare Windows 8 or 7 Home edition they are not using?
It would be very appreciated. You would also be helping a family in need.

Just a quick bump.
I have the computer cleaned out. I upgraded the ram and hard drive.
The family I want to give it to for Christmas could really use it. They wouldn't know what to do with Linux, so free OS's are out.
Can anyone help?

If the PC you are refurbishing has a Windows COA sticker on it for Windows 7/8?

I just figured if someone was throwing out an old dell or hp or something that had a cd key on the case they could send me it. I’m not asking anyone to buy one or anything

Windows 8 keys were embedded in the bios of pre-built systems. So your likely to not get anything there.

Windows 7 keys were still stuck to the outside of computers, however the keys are tied to specific windows installation discs. Each manufacturer had a particular version of windows 7 disc you had to use with the key.

I don't have any I can give you, but if you do get a win 7 key from an OEM machine, make sure you know what version of win 7 it is for and when OEM the machine came from. Then you have to seek out the correct version of win 7 to get it to install.

I have had good luck installing Windows 7 and 8 with a flash drive I created that let’s me pick the particular version (home, Pro, etc) with the case sticker installation id. So I just have to find someone ditching an old windows 7 or 8 machine who can shoot me the id.
