Video Card Opinion/Help
Hey guys just want to get an opinion on a video card.
I am runnin a 4 year old pc specs:
2400+ AMD Athalon
1 GB Hard Drive
ATI 9600XT 128 MB
I want to do a economical upgrade for my pc so I can play CS:S without too much lag and possibly BF2. Right now I keep gettin fps drops and its not my internet. I was wanting to know your opinion about the following graphics card I want to purchase:
Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102073 : $94.99
I probably need to buy a bigger power supply and I think this should be sufficient:
Power supply

Please post your "useful" opinions on this hardware, thanks in advance.

Re: Video Card Opinion/Help
I am going to tell you honestly that you should save your money.
buying a new AGP card for that system is going to be like putting a turbo on a 20 year old yugo.
Sure it might go a little faster, but your really just wasting money...
Save the 120 dollars towards a newer set of bits. We can design you a system for 500 or less.
Check out this Toms article: 525$ on a complete system (minus display) that would run circles around what you currently have.

Re: Video Card Opinion/Help
thx for the quick response. the thing is i am just lookin for a quick fix, i dont think it is worth the money for me to spend an extra $400 bucks (difference) for a new pc when all I use the pc for is playin CS:S and BF2. This is literally all I do on this pc, all the important work is done on a spiffy lil laptop
. I just want to make sure this will be compatible, and will give me the high # of fps i am seekin in cs:s and bf2?

Re: Video Card Opinion/Help
the card you linked will improve your fps - and you probably wont need to get a power supply - i would wait on that
BUT your not going to get a huge increase, your probably CPU limited to a great degree. Your fps increase may not end up putting you into the realm of what you consider 'high'
