    I use Avast and have no complaints. It's free and except for letting me know that it updated, I would never know it is running.

    I'm a big advocate of AVG. I actually went to the trouble of purchasing the Professional version, which I've found works better under Vista than the free version. I also paid a little extra and picked up their Firewall software, which is definitely a pretty good bi-directional firewall. I use it at home and haven't had a problem with it blocking something I couldn't unblock.

    Also, it's worth pointing out that AVG's licenses are for two years, unlike McAfee and Norton and many others who charge you the same amount for one year.

    Sure, the free version works fine, but I use it enough that I want to support Grisoft. Also, here's the differences taken from their website:

    * Less protection — AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not detect potentially unwanted programs.
    * No server support — AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition cannot be installed on server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2003), nor can it be used for the scanning of network drives.
    * No customization — Scheduling options in the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition are very limited (only one scheduled update per day, one scheduled scan per day etc.). Also the Resident Shield configuration is limited with no exclusion settings. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition does not offer advanced testing options, password-protected archives reporting, adjustment of scan process priority and many other features.
    * Slower updates — AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition receives updates via a lower priority service. Priority updating via high-speed servers is only available for commercial versions.
    * No technical support!
    That's the only real differences between the free and pro version on paper. Anyways, that's my two cents.

    I used Nod32, It is what the military uses.
    It uses less resources and it is updated all the time during the day.

    Re: Anti-Virus (hope this is the right place to post)

    Well since everyone is makin comments about Anti-Virus Software I probably should ask this question. Now with our home's DSL service, Mcaffe Virus and Firewall Protection comes free ( as part of the package for DSL) and in my opinion it seems to do a very good job ( compy hasn't died yet lol) But now to get the true answer ( as i'm sure someone here is a Anti Virus Expert)

    Is Mcaffe's Services any good @ all or is my compy ( and all our compys for that matter) Dieing a little bit on the inside everytime i go on the internet?

    For Spyware, ( even though Mcaffe says it scans for it also) I have Windows Defender (Which i know is junk so i even shut it down to save memory) and Spysweeper, which also came along with the DSL package for free. Now for some reason, Spysweeper can't boot up on my computer ( it like just locks up ! any ideas there? i was guessin reinstall but any help would be greatly appreciated) However it runs fine on all the other computers in our home and also does a good job but that seems to eat memory so i only run it every so often on the other comps

    So here's the story in a 10kb word document ( lol)

    Mcaffe------- Good Or Bad?
    Spysweeper --Good Or Bad?
