Well, that can't really happen. No respawns for the Infected would be... kinda dull. Not to mention Hunters would be almost obsolete, since they rely on leaping in during confusion. And what if a player using the Tank dies as he faces the threat of an Auto-Shottie? He's dead, that's it, he just watches now?
Sorry if I have in some way offended you, but this is just an... extremely unbalancing idea.Whilst playing Penumbra...

no, this is an awful idea. for a myriad of reasons
basically each level your going to get a single battle royal anywhere on the map then clear easy sailing from there on if the infected fail.
And don't fool yourself, its not going to be guerrilla warfare, where the infected, come in, do damage and retreat to go heal themselves. survivors would hunt your ass down knowing your death is the end of you.
Part of the fun of being infected is the reckless side of attack. you can afford to be abit disorganized, rash, risky etc with very little punishment. resulting in epic pay offs when you boomer explode someone off a building or when you narrowly miss that 25 damage survivor pounce and take an auto-shotty to the face. but then you get to try it all over again in a few seconds.
this idea would turn infected teams into semi-survivor teams with no guns, shit health, a few hundred papi-friends and fuckers that steal all the FaKs.
surely...a hunter applying a fak to himself is just going to cut himself up more...
now, a fun idea might be that boom puke heals any infected that happen to get caught in the spray/blast, giving a hunter already pinning someone those few extra seconds of damage.

just thought up another special infected idea based off this, the nurse, looks like a fat woman that basically heals special infected that are near her and also boosts there life for a short time. Can puke upon survivors however it doesnt atract the horde it jsut slows them down a little and blocks vision, the puke also has an area effect that hurts survivors who walk across it. the nurse should keep her distance from survivors and is useful for special infected. basically a support class for special infected with some cool abilities such as healing, and slowing down the survivors.
regarding infected using medkits i think naaaw

not THAT terrible of an idea, but infected already have too much to deal with, aside from having to look for medkits. Its easier to just go out and die and wait the frighteningly long 30 (*shudder*) second spawn.
besides theres already a glitch where the infected can revive an incapped survivor at the end of a match. its pretty hilarious to do actually lol.
