cecils system is well rounded, my advice though:
Skip that 7950 and for just a bit more money get a much more powerful 320 8800 gts:

    GeForce 8800GTS 320MB - 260$ after rebate.

If your not getting the 8800, buy a 7900gs or a ati 1950 for under 150$

Re: Help on getting a new computer.

Here are two parts lists that I tossed together. One is in the middle of your price range and the other is a little over the top end of it. The prices are from TigerDirect. They would probably be a little cheaper from NewEgg. I also assumed that you would need a copy of Windows XP. If that is not the case then you could save some money. I assumed that you will be reusing your keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor.

The more expensive unit includes 5.1 sound, Firewire, gigabit LAN, 2 GB RAM, and upgrade capability to Intel Core 2 Quad. The cheaper unit has stereo sound, 1 GB RAM, and limited CPU upgradeability.

It''s retarded for a new system builder to go with XP.

    And a 1.8 GHZ CPU?

Anyway dude, for new system builders, you might as well go vista. More and more games are becoming Vista only, and if he gets 2GB RAM he should be fine

There is no reason to own Vista. I dont expect there to be one for awhile. Companies that make vista only games are just going to be throwing away 75-80% of their market.

As for that 1.8 processor, it is a core2 and I believe more powerful than the 4600 you posted

Actually what is retarded is giving bad advice. Suggesting that Money can carry over his old case is a non-starter. He has a uATX box with a 300W power supply. The ATX MB on your list won't fit in his box.

That would be a pretty rude fucking awakening for Money if he took your list, ordered the stuff except for the case, and then discovered that he still needed to blow time and cash on a new case and power supply. Would you be willing and able to send him the money to fix your oversight?
