Trying to build a PC for a friend
He wants to keep the price between $1500 and $1750. This is what I have come up with so far:
http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817371010 - PSU
http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811129021 - Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115029 - CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813127022 - MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820148069 - Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16829102007 - Sound
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814150171 - Video
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824001096 - Monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827131049 - DVD/CD
Total at $1,557.77
What am I missing? What changes would you make to get the most out of his money?

Re: Trying to build a PC for a friend
Sharp looking system! Some suggestions:
Step him up to his monitor:
<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001096>SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms </a>
This Video card is cheaper:
<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150171>XFX PVT80GGHF4 GeForce 8800GTS 320MB</a>
Have him use the ntune software to crank it up the 50mhz if you think its necessary.
That motherboard seems like more than a normal user would need. Is this machine going to be overclocked? If not find a mb under 150.
No need to get the Fatal1ty level XFI card. The basic gamerxtreme card is enough and is 1/2 the price.

Re: Trying to build a PC for a friend
Part of me is thinking ya should spend the extra $80 ($50 more if ya include the rebate) to get the EVGA 8800GTS 640MB (I'm an EVGA fanboy).
PSU, I personally recommend the hell out of the Corsair line of PSUs. They're modular, stable and work fantastic. Heck I have the 520W with my system and it works just fine, but if you want to be above 600W, go with their 620W, and it's the same price after the rebate as your current choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139002
That's the only thoughts I have, though everything else is well chosen.

Here's a HardOCP article where they put that HX620 to the grind stone, it's a fairly interesting read: http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...hlbnRodXNpYXN0
