    L4D wont start up

when i first got L4D i was playing it for a while but because it lagged. I tried to make all the settings in L4D a little lower so my computer can make it run smoothly, then i stopped playing because it did nothing then when i wanted to start it back up it wouldn't load it would just go black then it would send me back to my desktop and L4D WOULD SAY "syncing 100.0%" ive read other posts but nothing helps and i've already uninstalled and re-installed it. Here are my specs,

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Your dxdiag does not indicate how much video RAM that ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 card has. I am not all that familiar with the ATI family of video cards, maybe someone else will jump in here and offer an opinion.

Are there any error messages in your Windows Event Viewer that might tell you what is causing the error?
