good to hear! Have fun in 2003 land, IIS 6 can be a bear due to its heightened security defaults.

Just to add to the RAID points, be sure you're making backups and not relying on solely RAID for data protection.

stuck in lobby

this is my first time trying to play left 4 dead online.
i was getting some errors and i solved that by removing steam_appid.txt each time i start the game so i could get into the lobby.
Anyhow i was wondering why i get stuck with Setting Up Lobby message on top screen and nothing happens ?
I tried to created lobby and i get same thing
i tried to connect to local server i setup to test the game and i still get same thing.
Anyone knows whats up ?

First thing, double check to make sure you don't have an antivirus or firewall program that might be blocking your connection.

Second, try opening the following ports on your router for Steam:

UDP 1200 (used for friends service)
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27020 to 27039 inclusive

no antiviruses
no firewalls
i am wide open for hackers
any other ideas ?
I also noticed because my computer is fast i was not able to see it 1st time so when i try to connect to local server game starts to load map, it loads it about half second and jumps back to lobby with only 1 option available to leave the lobby

If the Steam ports are open, then I would suggest going to the propeties of the game in Steam, and defrag it and do a verify integrity.

Are there any error messages in your Windows Event Viewer that relate to L4D?
