Re: Help with line up for new rig.
Thats a pretty nice entry level rig you have built yourself there.
I agree that the bump in video card price may be worth it.
Also, I noticed your HDD is ATA, you may want to consider a SATA drive. There are several SATA drives for the same price there on newegg.
SATA is faster than ATA, many tests show only a little faster; but for an extra 2 to 4 dollars for a disk in your size range it may well be worth it.

plus sata cables and thermal compound. you definitely want to get a sata hard drive. ata is old and slow. the case i got was cheap but i was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. you might want to check their latest deals on ram and hard drives. you might be able to get something cheaper. all this for $561 plus shipping.

Re: Help with line up for new rig.
don't worry about an aftermarket fan. if you don't use the one that comes with the cpu it will void your warranty. i have always used amd processors with the stock cooler and never had a problem.
in my opinion start with the stuff that i listed and then upgrade from there. i spent alot of time researching this system. you might want to spend a bit more on a video card, but let me tell you.... this machine runs like a dream in bf2. everything on high, no lag, maps load fast.

Re: Help with line up for new rig.
I mean, if you can spare the extra money, I'd reccomend going with an 8800. But if you're looking for under 200 bucks on ur vid card, go with the upper level 8600's.
Also, check this website daily http://www.slickdeals.net/
They more often than not, have top of the line ram for cheap. They have some DDR2 800 ballistix ram (2 gigs) for like 45 bucks. Maybe take that extra 20 bucks or so you save, and put it towards the gtx version of ur card. Other than that everything looks fine. Although I know nothing about athalon processors so.
