Amazing boost in performance
I’m a pretty techy guy when it comes to computers (3rd Place at FBLA Nationals in Networking Design XD)
To make a long story short, I have my comp run a series of maintenance jobs every Thursday night, among one of them was defragging all of my drives.
Well recently I’ve been encountering crappy and I mean crappy load times in css and other games in addition to slow boot times. So after some troubleshooting, I discovered that my c:\ drive was heavily fragmented and was unable to fully defrag due to lack of free space. After clearing some space up I defragged again and loaded in game and I saw little decrease in loading times so I rechecked the defragmentation on the HD and it was still high. Then I remembered reading about a nice lil program called Diskkeeper and I figured I’d give it a try, so I dled it and loaded it up and holy SHIT… It cleaned up my drive and everything including my paging files. In game (css) the maps load so unbelievably fast that I barely see the loading bar (10k rpm hd, 2gigs ram and a amd oc’ed @3.2), when before it would take around 15-30 seconds to load a map.
Absolutely amazing program puts windows stock degfragger to shame; furthermore comes with a few interesting tools. I definitely recommend it to everyone beginner and expert alike.
5/5

I use Contig and Power Defragmenter GUI
Writeup of how to use it - http://forums.hardwarelogic.com/f32/...-0-a-4486.html
Perfect Disk and Diskkeeper are great as well, but not free.
