11-20-07, 12:41 PM #1Need suggestions on WHEN to buy new gear.
I have received many recommendations from several of you. As more and more better games come out I am reaizing that my little ol' laptop is not keeping up, so I am building a cheap gaming rig from the ground up. I have a fairly good idea on what i am getting, but wanted to see when I should buy.
I know things are ever-changing, but will prices on the things I need to build from scratch be going down before Christmas, after Christmas, maybe after the New Year, or should I just start now? I am still playing, so I am not in ZOMG I need a new system yesterday, but i also don't want to keep waiting forever thinking it will get cheaper soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Civil

Re: Need suggestions on WHEN to buy new gear.
You can always wait and things will be cheaper, but their isnt much of a reason to wait at the moment, there wont be any new releases of hardware from the major vendors till the spring, so prices well remain on a fairly stable yet slight price decline.
The only bit to really wait on would be if your interested in the 256mb version of the 8800GT, or to see if they release a refreshed 8800GTS with more ponies under the hood. But even that wait wouldnt be for more than a week or two.

Go see 'da man, give him a budget and I'm sure he can hook you up and you won't have to worry about a sale :9

Thanks Mury, exactly the information I was seeking.
Chosen, I think I am going with an alienware, NOT!!!!! I have built a sytem or two in my day, and I have some elves that can help as well. If I didn't know how to do it myself I would be knocking on BD's door right now.

Have you downloaded Left 4 Dead 2 Add-on Support under the Tools tab in Steam?
Other than that, the only thing I could imagine is if the custom maps are missing files, or that they were not extracted to their proper locations.I don't need to get a life. I'm a gamer. I have lots of lives.
